Preparations

I have been thinking a lot about preparing and what not, mainly preparing for our little girl, but also planning to build some credit in my own name. I have recently gotten a credit card in my name (I always just used Doug's). With applying for the credit card, they had to run my credit and I was pleasantly surprised. I have pretty good credit. I talked with my younger sister and she does too!! Both of us thought about it and came to the conclusion that we have the best Dad in the world. As soon as we could, he put our names on a credit card that was in his account so we could start building up our credit. I only remember purchasing gas with it, but because he paid it off every month we both have developed good credit! Thanks Dad for thinking about our futures!!

Today, my wonderful Mother-in-Law invited me to lunch and then a little shopping trip for the baby. We went to Chili's (always read Chee G's thanks to my brother Destin), and got ribs and fajitas. It was delicious! Then we headed over to Target to look at baby clothes. This was the first time that I have looked at clothes since I found out we were having a girl. Let me tell you, I am sooo excited to dress this little girl up! The only problem right now is all of the clothes are summery right now, and she won't be born until winter. We found two cute outfits and Kari was so kind and bought them for her :) (Don't know where to put a period there so I'm leaving it out)
Now back to the preparation. I have been thinking a lot about everything Doug and I need to get in order to be ready for our little girls arrival, and every time I think about it, I think of more stuff! I am, however, starting to figure out what I want for a stroller and stuff like that. I also have an idea of how I want her bedroom to look. I just hope I can do it pretty cheap. I figure though that if I take one step at a time, I'll get everything done that I need to get done. I mean let's be honest, its not like I'm super busy. Haha.

Doug has been the greatest! Last week he worked about 60 hours and then had midterms on top of that. And now it's the end of the month and that is when Flowserve gets very, very busy. Yesterday he worked until about 8, and then today he hasn't gotten home yet. He is thinking that they are going to get off between 1 and 2. He has been taking these long hours like a champ! He even says funny things in the morning like "sleep in extra long for me!" or "make sure you have some fun today!" He goes to work everyday and knows that I just stay at home, but he still says things to make me smile. I love him so much and I'm so grateful for everything he is doing for our family!!! Thank you Douglas!!!!

Student Replies

I told all of my students from last year that as soon as I knew what Doug and I were having that I would email them. I checked my email today and I got a few emails back from parents saying "congratulations." But my favorite emails were from two of my boy students.

"It's me marc i love girls they're so cute"

"Mrs. Buhler,
I am so happy you are having a girl. They are way better than boys! Just kidding.
Josh"

I love my students so much! And I will always call them my students :)

It's a.....

GIRL!!!!

I know it's crazy. Doug and I would always joke around saying that we were going to end up with all girls because we wanted a boy so badly..and it looks like we might be right! I was a little worried going into the ultrasound that I would be a little disappointed if it was a girl, but honestly no disappointment here! We are both ecstatic! Now we just need to find some girl names that we like.

This morning I woke up and ate a normal breakfast, you know, Cap'n Crunch, not thinking about how much sugar is in the cereal. Our little girl was swimming laps inside of me! It was so fun to be able to see her move around. At one point she had both of her arms up by her face and then the next second she had them at her side. She was moving her legs around and I swear she almost kneed (not sure how to spell that) herself in the face! Our ultrasound tech was really nice and explained everything that she was doing and what she was checking. We got to watch her heart for a long time, mainly because she kept moving and the tech couldn't find the pathways or something. But overall it was so cool to see!

Here are some pictures that we got to take home!

These are her little feet.

Lonnnng legs! (The tech asked us how tall we were. haha.)

Showing herself off so we have no doubt that we are getting a girl.

Heart beat

Profile of her whole body. There is no way that can be comfy. But her head is at the bottom and her butt is up high with her knee almost hitting herself in the face.

This is a close up of the last picture. You can see her face a little better.

Baby..Baby

It has been so crazy being pregnant. I know I'm pregnant (obviously) but I still find myself at times being shocked that my stomach is sticking out like someone who is pregnant. I'll walk by my mirror and be like whhhat and have to take a second look. But Doug has been super funny. Yesterday he said to me "holy cow your body has really changed in the last 2 weeks." And I'm so glad that I love when he tells me if I look good, bad, or goofy, because I just said "I know right!" haha.

When I was 16 weeks pregnant I was super lucky and got to feel the little baby move around. It was the craziest, weirdest feeling I have ever felt. The best way I could describe it was butterflies fluttering around in my stomach. I only felt him (not sure if the baby is actually a boy but I always use male pronouns though) every once and a while.

Nowadays I get to feel him all of the time. He likes to wake up at night time right around when I'm just about asleep. BUT ever since the first time I felt him I have been waiting for a hard enough kick where Doug could feel him too! Being the determined person I am, I would always call Doug over when he was moving a lot and he could never feel him. Tonight was different. I took my good friend Tiffany's advice. She suggested laying flat on my back when he started moving around so I did. I then rudely interrupted Doug's study time and called him over...and BAM! He kicked sooo hard! Well hard for a tiny little baby to kick. I was soo excited that Doug was able to finally feel him! Doug says he is kicking hard now because he's been toughening him up all this time. (Doug's definition of toughening up is him playfully punching me in the stomach and saying "he needs to be tougher."

Tomorrow is the big day! We get to find out if we are having a girl or boy!! I always refer to the baby as a boy, so we'll see if I'm right..or if I'm just crazy.

Updates

I have always told myself that when I have kids I would start a blog so that my family and friends that live across the country can see my cute little kids. Well I'm starting one early for 3 reasons - 1. I have a lot of time on my hands these days, 2. My first kid will be arriving in November, and 3. My sisters told me I should.

Teaching while Preggers
At the end of my first year of teaching (4th Grade at Canyon Crest Elementary) I found out that I was pregnant. No need to worry, and I know you were, it was definitely planned.

During my first trimester, I found myself being one of the luckiest pregnant ladies around. I got to be sick for 7 weeks while teaching my cute little 4th graders. I am only a little sarcastic about being lucky because yes, I was sick all day, but my 4th graders were so amazing! I would suck on hard candies, eat pretzels at my desk, and even sit on their desks while teaching and through all of this, not one of them complained or even said "Mrs. Buhler why do YOU get to eat candy and food."

Two weeks before school ended, I decided that it was time to tell my little kids why I was so sick. I set aside 15 minutes at the end of the day and boy was that a mistake. I should have set aside an hour. When I told them, they immediately started cheering and throwing their hands up for questions. They asked me everything from "How pregnant are you?" to "Is that why you eat pretzels all day?" Haha. They were so cute. I definitely miss seeing them everyday.

Housewife
Being unemployed (technically), and having a hard time finding a summer job being pregnant, I have found that I have a whole lot of time on my hands. Doug has loved this because I am an awesome housewife when I'm home all day. He gets a clean house, clean laundry, and even dinner on the table every night when he gets home from work.

Working Man
Doug, on the other hand, has found himself a whole lot busier in the last month. He has started (for the 3rd or 4th time) a full time job at Flowserve. This is an awesome opportunity for us because there is a lot of overtime and with a baby on the way, we need some money. He works long hours and has been taking 9 credits to finish up his schooling and he hasn't once complained about work or school. He has been amazing.

Pregnant
I am now 20 weeks pregnant! Half way there!! And I swear I get bigger daily. Doug has finally agreed with me. If you ask my family, they could tell you that I have been saying that I have been showing since 10 weeks. Which I look back on pictures now, and can see that I really wasn't. It wasn't until about 16 weeks where Doug finally said "Hey you can see a belly now!" I was excited that I was finally validated for feeling like I was showing. haha.

20 Weeks
Happy Father's Day
Happy Father's Day to all of the amazing fathers and fathers to be in my life!

Doug - Doug had a pretty amazing first father's day. We have been talking for a while about getting a shot gun, and Doug has been wanting one since he was about 12. So we decided that for a mother's day/father's day gift we would buy a shotgun. He wasted no time in getting to use his gun. We have been out shooting twice since we got it.

My Pops - My dad is the hardest person to buy presents for. I know what he likes to do, he just has everything that he enjoys doing. If he doesn't, he just goes and buys it. I have however discovered kindle gift cards. Best thing ever. Happy Father's Day dad!!

Doug's Dad - Doug's dad is a little easier only because he lives 10 minutes away. We took him shooting on our dime. We are just so generous. It was a lot of fun. Phil and Stacie came out with us too! We went through 200 rounds and almost 200 clay pigeons.
